Grandma finds tiny kitten: When she sees his face, she is shocked
Phetchabun (Thailand) - A mysterious discovery was made in a village in Thailand: an elderly woman found a small baby kitten that had just been born. When the grandmother looked at the animal's face, she immediately realized that she was holding a sensation in her hands - the kitten had been born with two faces.
When 82-year-old Durian Intawiset discovered the animal in the province of Phetchabun in the north of the country, the tiny animal was still attached to its mother's placenta.
Its head can only be described as unique: "A cat at home gave birth to a kitten with 2 heads, 4 eyes, 2 noses and a placenta," the grandmother wrote on social media. Despite the deformity, the cat is fine. "The kitten is still alive," Durian said, according to the Daily Mail.
However, there is no trace of the mother cat named "Nang Prae".
The 82-year-old is therefore now feeding the special velvet paw with goat's milk to keep her alive.
Baby cat suffers from a protein malfunction
"It meows like a normal cat," reports the resident. "Nang Prae gave birth to a kitten once before, but left it behind and it died." However, the baby with the two faces was not to suffer this terrible fate.
Foster mother Durian even believes that her family has been remarkably lucky since she was found: "I kept it and since then everything has gone smoothly, no matter what the family does, and she is lucky."
Cats that are born with two faces are also known as "Janus cats". They usually live for less than a day. The reason for the deformity is a disease called craniofacial duplication or diprosopus, which is caused by a protein malfunction. This causes parts or even the entire face to be duplicated.
Grandmother Durian Intawiset's kitten has now been living in her care for three days. Since then, the village has been in an uproar, with many residents making their way to the 82-year-old's house to see the animal. Many believe that the baby kitten is a lucky charm.
