Death at only 20 years old! Great sadness for young handball player

Cartagena (Spain) - She had her whole life ahead of her, but now Blanca Guillén Sánchez is dead.

The Spanish handball player passed away at the age of just 20. The grief and consternation are correspondingly great.

"Today is a very sad day for regional handball," reads the official announcement from the regional handball association FBMRMU, which was published on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) late on Sunday evening.

"The 20-year-old Cartagena player Blanca Guillén Sánchez, who played for CAB Cartagena and Maristas Cartagena, has died in the port city", read the statement on the tragic death of the Spaniard.

According to media reports, the young woman died last weekend, without giving details of the exact cause of death.

The Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM) also addressed emotional words to the deceased, conveying sincere sympathy and deep condolences to her relatives.

The sportswoman studied at the Polytechnic University in Cartagena and was working towards a degree in biomedical engineering. Alongside her studies, she pursued her great passion, playing handball, and was a member of the local club.
