"So, if you've been following Hurricane Milton - um, I'm going to die!" she said in a now-deleted Instagram story, according to the Daily Mail.

Caroline Calloway (32) then defended herself on Instagram: "Firstly, I can't drive. Secondly, the airport is closed," she explained in reference to the chaos of people rushing to leave.

She added that the last evacuation had been a very traumatic event for her.

Calloway went on to say that she had stayed home with her cat and had prepared by filling the bathtub with "backup water" in case there was a power outage.

Her fans urged her to leave Florida

"We have enough food, but it's a bit scary," she said, adding: "I'll keep you posted."

Another picture she shared showed the view of the sea from her home, while noting that she was "a bit worried".

Shortly afterwards, she reiterated her decision to stay at home on the X platform - and again admitted that she might not survive.

Some users urged Calloway to evacuate Florida - not for her sake, but to protect her cat.

"As a human you can risk your own life, but please get your helpless cat to safety," one person wrote in the comments.
