Teacher puts pupils on the floor to re-enact fatal police operation

Minneapolis - In the US state of Minnesota, a substitute teacher had to be fired after a series of racist acts took place. One incident - reported in a letter to students, parents and staff - is particularly distasteful.

The man, who has since been identified as police officer Steve Williams, began a job as a substitute teacher at Woodbury High School in Minneapolis, theAP reports.

Last Monday, he was supposed to take over English classes for four grades ten and twelve.

He then said that the students might want to learn about his life as a police officer.

He placed a student on the floor to re-enactthe murder of George Floyd (†46). This had led to massive protests against racism and police violence in the United States in 2020.

This was not the only incident

According to the pupils, the substitute teacher repeatedly made racist remarks and sexist jokes. He then allegedly spoke in "disturbing detail" about dead bodies he had already seen and said that police officers were the "best criminals" because "they know how to get away with things". He also tried to explain to the students that there is no such thing as "police violence".

The letter then states that he is not allowed to approach the school district's premises from now on. The case was reported to the Minnesota Department of Education, the State Teacher Licensing Board and the Woodbury Police Department.
