The suspect is said to have inflicted several cuts on a woman (65) yesterday (Friday), whereupon she died on the spot.

The 59-year-old is said to have fled the scene. The two had known each other.

As Kurier learned from police sources, the suspect was considered "highly dangerous" and had access to weapons, explosives and allegedly "uranium-enriched substances". He had therefore already been under investigation in the Czech Republic.

Cobra members and 120 officers from the Lower Austria Provincial Police Directorate were involved in the large-scale police operation. There were evacuations, road closures and extensive identity checks, according to the Kronen Zeitung.
