Neighbor hears screams: When he knows the reason, he immediately calls the emergency services!
Baltimore (USA) - And suddenly the ground gave way! A man from the Baltimore area in the east of the USA was trapped in a well for almost a whole day.
Neighbor Wesley Straffin was about to bring his dogs into the house last Wednesday when he heard loud screams.
At first he didn't know what to do, Wesley told WBAL. But because the cries for help did not stop, he grabbed his father Matt. Together, the Americans tried to shed some light on the situation.
"We started shouting 'hello, hello'," said Straffin. In response, the father-son duo again heard cries for help. Then they found what they were looking for.
As it turned out, the Straffins' neighbor was in quite a predicament: the man was stuck in a well about nine meters deep on his own property. Wesley dialed the emergency number.
Baltimore man fell into the well, presumably because the ground beneath him gave way
The Baltimore County Fire Department finally arrived and freed the helpless man from his "prison".
The rescued man later told the emergency services that he had fallen into the well at around 4.30 a.m. the previous day and had to spend almost an entire day underground.
"It looked like the ground just gave way," Wesley Straffin told reporters. He suspects that his neighbor was taken by surprise and had no chance to react to the situation.
With pain in his shoulders and back, the man was taken to hospital after his rescue. "Thank God, it could have been much worse," says Straffin.
