Fatal surfing accident: influencer impaled by swordfish!

Mentawai Islands (Indonesia) - Italian influencer Giulia Manfrini has died at the age of 36! Manfrini was the victim of a swordfish attack near the Indonesian Mentawai Islands.

As the Indonesian news agency Antara News reported, the surfer was impaled by the animal's snout.

"The information we received from the head of the Southwest Siberut sub-district said that an Italian foreigner had an accident while surfing," said Lahmudin Siregar, acting head of the Mentawai Islands Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) on Friday, October 18 (local time).

The accident would have occurred at the popular surfing spot off Maskout Island. "Unexpectedly, a swordfish jumped towards Manfrini and rammed it [its snout; editor's note] directly into the tourist's chest," said Lahmudin Siregar.

According to the local police, two other surfers present took the injured Manfrini to hospital, where she later died. The stab wound in the upper left side of her chest was almost five centimeters deep, they said.
