Christmas miracle for the "saddest dog in town": after years in the shelter, he finds a home!
London (UK) - There was a real Christmas miracle for one dog this year! After two years in an animal shelter, a Doberman can finally celebrate with a family that loves him more than anything.
"The saddest dog in Warwickshire" was once the title given to Jake after he spent 850 days in a shelter.
As Good News Network reported, the four-legged friend was afraid of other dogs, strangers, noises and "pretty much everything".
Suffering from dysplasia and being treated by shelter staff, he was considered too much of a handful.
So Jake was already preparing for his third Christmas alone when a couple came across his kennel in England's capital, London.
New home for Doberman Jack
John and Amanda wanted to expand their family and began caring for the Doberman. After a few weeks of training and therapy, they decided to adopt the lonely dog!
"We are so happy to have Jake in his new home for the holidays. Jake was so loved by the staff at Dogs Trust [the shelter, editor's note] and it was clear how much care and dedication they gave him during his time there," said Amanda.
He has settled in wonderfully, is becoming more confident every day and has already made new friends, including the letter carrier and a bartender who gives him treats.
"Jake has had some challenges to overcome, but seeing him build his confidence and settle into a happy place makes it all worth it," said a shelter worker.
