As the local Turkish newspaper Oksijen reports, the customs team of the Turkish Ministry of Trade carried out a routine inspection of a cargo being transported from Nigeria to Thailand on December 21.

The little lowland gorilla baby, who was even wearing a T-shirt, was immediately rescued by the authorities.

It was taken to a special care facility to ensure that it received the necessary medical care.

Thanks to the rapid intervention, the animal's condition has now improved significantly. It has recovered from the stresses and strains of transportation and is now continuing to receive intensive care.
