On April 2, Austin Metcalf attended a track and field competition between several schools. What initially seemed like an ordinary day quickly turned into a nightmare when a fight broke out between him and 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony.

According to reports in the New York Post, Austin was in his team's tent when he pointed out to Karmelo that he was sitting in the wrong seat. The latter is said to have felt provoked by this and immediately reacted aggressively.

The situation is said to have got so out of hand that Karmelo grabbed his rucksack, pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed Austin in the heart.

According to Austin's twin brother Hunter, the entire incident only lasted a few seconds - and the two boys didn't even know each other beforehand.

Hunter, who witnessed the incident first hand, immediately rushed to his brother's aid. He desperately tried to stop the bleeding and save him. But it was too late. Austin died in his arms. The emergency services were alerted and could only determine his death.

Karmelo was arrested shortly after the crime and is charged with premeditated murder. The 17-year-old is currently being held in the Collin County jail. Karmelo's father, meanwhile, insists his son is a good boy and did not start the fight.

The Metcalf family, on the other hand, is devastated. In the midst of their deep grief, they have set up a GoFundMe donation page to help cover funeral expenses and to help Hunter cope with the emotional burden and continue his education.
