Princess Kate (42) made her first public appearance after completing her chemotherapy in October.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the future Queen opened up about her illness when she got talking to some fans.

A woman who worked for British Cancer Support told Kate she was a true inspiration to all patients.

"The amount of people who have written to me this year is extraordinary. I think cancer really does affect so many families. People like you are out there doing all the hard work. I'm incredibly grateful," the 42-year-old said wistfully.

Shortly afterwards, she also hugged Karen Maclean (73), a woman who herself battled the serious illness for 20 years.

After around a year of treatment, Kate announced in September that she was cancer-free, having made her illness public in March of this year.

But she is not the only one battling cancer: King Charles (76) is also affected by the disease. He made his diagnosis public back in Februaryand is expected to continue his treatment into next year.
