The Slovakian-born woman, who lived in the capital and worked as a care worker, "fell victim to a terrible crime and died" during her stay in the Philippines , as her friend Nadine B. announced in an appeal for donations for the bereaved on gofundme.

She kept quiet about what really happened on the picturesque sandy beaches of Boracay - for good reason, because Michaela was raped and murdered in the vacation paradise!

The 23-year-old flew to the vacation island on March 1 to attend a wedding of a couple she was friends with. She wrote to her friend saying how happy she was before she was last seen on Bulabog Beach at around 1 a.m. on March 10, 2025 - shortly before leaving for Manila.

The following day, her friends posted a missing person's report, which even found its way to Reddit. As a result, a reward of 50,000 Philippine pesos was offered for crucial clues, which corresponds to a good 800 euros.

In vain, because on March 12, news spread that a 26-year-old local man had found a half-naked woman's body in an abandoned chapel in Sitio Pinaungon at around 2 pm.

At first her identity was unknown, but soon there was terrible certainty: it was Michaela M.! She was killed just one kilometer away from her hotel.

Because a tourist was involved in the case, the local police pulled out all the stops to catch the culprits - with success!

On March 16, a 28-year-old man was arrested in a drug raid who had apparently been filmed with Michaela by a surveillance camera before her disappearance, as The Philippine Star reported. In police custody, he then testified against two friends.

In the end, a total of three locals were taken into custody for the murder - a fourth is still under investigation. The trio is said to have intercepted the Slovakian woman at a hotel at around 6.10 p.m. on March 10 and walked with her to the chapel, where one of the three beat her with a wooden club. Two of them then assaulted her.

According to the coroner, Michaela M. died of a severe head injury. Her entire body and face, however, showed bruises, abrasions and contusions. Her murderers now face a long prison sentence - the death penalty was abolished in the Philippines in 2006.

What is particularly tragic is that the 23-year-old had actually wanted to attend the wedding with her boyfriend. However, she had to make the trip alone as the Egyptian was unable to obtain a visa for the Philippines.
