Sophie Greene (28) had to pay 307 euros for a distance of just under five kilometers!

Just over a week ago, Sophie Greene (28) wanted to drive home after a birthday in the US city of New York.

As the New York Post reported, it was already late at night and she ordered a cab via the Uber app. According to the app, the ride was supposed to cost around 85 euros.

But the journey turned out differently: due to numerous road closures, it took almost two hours.

When the 28-year-old checked her app later, she was in for a shock - a bill of 307 euros!

During the journey, which normally only takes 20 minutes, she received several updates from Uber. However, she was not informed that the fare had increased significantly.

"They did text me several times asking, 'Looks like you stopped for a while. Are you sure?' But they didn't inform me about the price change," Sophie explained.

She immediately tried to dispute the bill, but the company refused - until she shared her story on social media on Sunday morning.

Within 30 minutes, Uber finally refunded the difference to the originally quoted price of 85 euros.
