Policeman loses belongings in the flames: He risks his life for the dog
Melbourne (USA) - A fire disaster struck a few days before Christmas. Anthony Ciraco lost his possessions in a fire in his home. Although he suffered serious injuries from the flames, the American risked his life to save his dog Buddy.
Donations are now being collected for the injured man, who had no home insurance. According to a GoFundMe page, he suffered second-degree burns in a kitchen fire on December 18. The police officer was preparing breakfast in his kitchen when the accident occurred.
The oil he was preparing in the pan for a chicken meal burst into flames. The kitchen caught fire, causing immense damage.
Instead of getting himself to safety, the 40-year-old worried about his four-legged friend. The bulldog mix had retreated to the bedroom in fear.
According to Florida Today, the police officer ran through several rooms in search of the furry friend and inhaled a lot of (toxic) smoke.
He finally found the dog and rushed outside through a sliding glass door, where the plastic strips were already melting away.
The man then grabbed his cell phone and called the emergency services.
Retired police officer collects donations for the fire victim
He suffered severe burns to his skin and smoke inhalation and had to be taken to a specialist clinic.
Velvet paw Bully, on the other hand, survived the accident unharmed. Jeffery Koeberl, a retired police officer who once encouraged Ciraco to become a police officer, has brotherly feelings for the 40-year-old fire victim and would like to raise up to 30,000 US dollars (more than 28,800 euros) via GoFundMe.
So far, around four-fifths of the fundraising target has been reached.
Themoney will beused to help the dog owner set up a new household, as most of his belongings were destroyed in the fire.
