Woman undergoes surgery to become a man: Six years later, she makes an extreme decision
Birmingham (England) - Even as a child, she had the feeling that something was wrong with her. Stephanie Thompson, now 34 years old, only ever felt comfortable around other girls, and later women. In her twenties, the time had come: she underwent surgery to become a man. But after six years as a Steffan, she had to admit her biggest mistake.

Stephanie Thompson realized that as a man, she was not leading the life she had previously dreamed of. The extreme consequence: everything back to square one! Today, Steffan is Stephanie Thompson again - after further surgery.
In an interview with Newsweek, the Englishwoman from Birmingham told her moving story: "When I heard the term transgender , I thought: that's exactly how I feel."
She also had her genitals removed during the operation to become a man.
"It was the worst operation I've ever had and I deeply regretted it," the woman admits today. Because Thompson will no longer be able to have biological children.
At the time, however, she was concerned with completely different things.

"Before the transition, I wondered why women aren't respected the way men are? I felt like there was more male privilege in the world than female privilege," Thompson told the US magazine.
"I think there was also a lot of envy. I thought that because I was attracted to women, it would be easier to be a man," she added. But then came the rude awakening.
As a Steffan, Thompson realized that she felt much lonelier among men. She missed the mutual support she had only experienced among women.
In 2020, Thompson studied the Bible and came to a realization: traumatic experiences in her childhood had made her want to escape her body. "The transition was hard, but regression is a whole different thing, both mentally and physically," she told Newsweek.
Above all, Thompson now regrets having lost her chance to ever become a mother. But she refuses to let it get her down: "Now I can see that when God made me, he made me beautiful, just the way I am."
